When will SA2025 Helmets be available?
October 1, 2025 or later – Snell SA2025 will take effect. The first SA2025 labeled helmets may be advertised, displayed and sold as of this date. There should be no SA2025 labeled headgear or claims for such until this date per the Snell Memorial Foundation (smf.org).
Established by the Snell Memorial Foundation, this standard is designed to ensure that helmets provide optimal protection for drivers during competitive racing events. The main change with SA2025 helmets are the requirements for impact velocities and acceleration limits that have been selected to assure compatibility with FIA 8859-2024 release. That is; compared to the corresponding values in FIA 8859, impact velocities and peak acceleration for SA2025 are either the same or more severe.
Manufacturers are responding to the growing demand for high-quality safety equipment that meets the latest standards. It is essential for racers to select helmets that not only comply with the SA2025 standard but also fit properly and offer comfort during extended periods of use. A well-fitted helmet can reduce the risk of injury by ensuring that the helmet remains securely in place during an impact. If you have questions on helmet fitment, Apex Performance is here to help.
