Why wear a head sock?
Some sanctioning organizations require a head sock (balaclava) if you have facial hair to pass tech. Some folks wear them to absorb sweat, protect their helmet interior and avoid the stinky funk factor after using a helmet all weekend. So what's the difference between a $45 head sock and a $119 head sock? The REALLY inexpensive ones are probably not SFI or FIA approved so you won't pass tech.
Gforce - makes a nifty SFI approved head sock for $45.00. Made from a black or natural, soft knit, contoured FR material, gives the driver or crew member hypoallergenic coverage with a soft texture.
OMP ONE EVO - features a split forehead seam - if your helmet fits snug, you won't feel that nasty seam pushing into your forehead. Also has a two layer seam on top for the best fitting. FIA 8856-2018
SABELT UI-600 - features single layer of soft, stretchable knit blended fire-retardant fibers for barely-there feel and comfort. Flat-sewn split seams eliminate pesky pressure points on the forehead, and exclusive design places the forehead seams to the sides. The double-layer protective front bib is extra long to tuck into your driver’s suit, the sides contoured to fit over the shoulders without bunching. FIA 8856-2018
Alpinestars ZX Evo v2 balaclavas - constructed with Lenzing, an innovative natural viscose fiber that affords exceptional flame resistance and protection against heat transfer. This Formula 1 specification balaclava is extremely lightweight and thin, while being incredibly soft to the touch for greatly enhanced comfort when wearing a driving suit, and has extensive mesh panels on the front central area and rear for optimum levels of breathability.
Also has the nifty drink tube slot for those long enduros! FIA 8856-2000 and SFI 3.3 homologated.
We've got what you need to pass tech, whether it's a new helmet, brake pads or fresh gloves for your event!
